Hoping you are all well,
This Sat 18/3, I’ll be playing bass, live with Sara Mathius – at the legendary The Windmill, in Brixton.
Sara Mathius is a punk musician from Salamanca, Spain that moved to the UK some years ago to continue her studies in multimedia production.
During the pandemic she decided to pick up the electric guitar, and in an incredible short amount of time taught herself music production and started writing her own punk songs, composing all instrument lines herself. This effort led her to record a self produced album called “Lost in London”: punk songs straight from the depths of her guts and spirit, with songs that speak the hard truths of living in London for immigrants during post-brexit-pandemic-war Britain: terrible landlords, dangerous flatmates, struggles with the cost of living, and all other sorts of things that would make one scream with the power she actually manages to translate for us on her stage performances.
Apart from the raw energy of her lyrics, the music is upbeat, energetic, fresh and creative. It was actually the creativity in her bass lines that made me interested in joining her band, as I have just recently bought me a bass guitar with the objective of joining a project that would be just as exciting as hers.
Hoping to see you all there, and will also keep everyone posted about my other musical projects, as there is a new classical piano album right around the corner.
Best,
Gabriel
